Hi, I'm Rick Sheridan. Welcome to my profile!

I am a university professor with 16 years of teaching and professional experience (Journalism, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Speech, and Business Communications). I teach and consult in the areas of: workplace writing skills, graphic design, social media in the classroom, public relations, convergence of print, broadcast and new media, and course development. I specialize in making complex materials more understandable.

Some of the top experiences in my life: Skiing; surfing; whitewater rafting; I jogged around the original Olympic stadium in Athens, Greece; Watched a pro football game with the players on the sidelines (Packers vs. Saints); Visited several pilgrimage sites- Lourdes, the Vatican, Canterbury, etc.; Viewed an active volcano- Manna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii; Attended Mardi Gras in New Orleans while volunteering after Hurricane Katrina ; Participated in the daily team football workouts with the Sacramento City College team, at age 48; Participated in two Tony Robbins’ firewalks; Helped propose and teach a new course at Stanford University; Produced a weekly “Volunteer Clearinghouse” radio show in college.
